Waynergy Vehicles
This system was installed in a university campus road pavement, which allowed the testing of a prototype. During a peak hour, between 1·00 p.m. and 2·00 p.m., the system was able to generate 37 800 J or 10·5 Wh. The electrical energy generated by several modules of the system located, for example, in speed humps and speed bumps, can be used not only to charge batteries for electric vehicles, but also for general consumption through injection into the electricity grid or direct use by electrical equipment, such as public lighting, traffic lights and outdoor advertising.

The electric energy generated by the Waynergy system for people during 1 h was 525 J or 0.15 W.h. It is expected that the Waynergy system for vehicles could generate substantial electrical energy, which can be used not only to charge batteries for electric vehicles, but also for general consumption through injection into the electricity grid or direct use in electrical equipment, such as traffic lights, public lighting and outdoor advertising.

Comparing the technologies that make use of vehicle mechanical energy as an energy source, piezoelectric technology was the first to get the attention of researchers. However, due to its lower energy conversion efficiency, the developments with this technology have decreased in the last 2 or 3 years. On the other hand, there has been an increase in research and development of electromechanical systems that harvest vehicle mechanical energy and, using electromagnetic generators, generate electrical energy. These, together with hydraulic systems, have registered the highest energy generation values in experimental tests. Their installation is also simpler than the installation of piezoelectric devices and they currently present a higher likelihood of success as an effective solution to transform vehicle mechanical energy into electrical energy effectively.
